The room before the game
Step back.
Make room.
The tabletop is one part of the setup. Think about the places around it and the people moving between them.
Sketch the arrangement
Move the idea around.
A small sketch to start a conversation. The positions are illustrative, with no claim about dimensions, reach or capacity.
for spare pieces
Your arrangement
Four people, one shared centre.
Keep a personal place for each player and check that everyone can comfortably see and reach what they need.
A conversation sketch, not a scale drawing, capacity check or access assessment. Ask the people joining you what works for them.
The sketch stays on this page. Nothing is stored or sent.
Look at the actual room
Four stops.
A useful walk-through.
- 01
The way in
Ask whether the route and seating arrangement work for the people joining you. Move obstacles and discuss any adjustment before the table fills up.
- 02
The view
Look at the board from each position. Check glare, text direction and whether shared information is hidden by a box or a tall piece.
- 03
The reach
Invite people to say what they can comfortably use. Offer to bring a shared supply closer or pass a piece when asked.
- 04
The pause
Leave a way to step away from the table. Agree how to pause the game without making someone explain a private reason.

Give the extras
another home.
A nearby surface can hold the box lid, spare supplies and drinks. It should make the table easier to use, without blocking a route or moving a needed item out of reach.
