A small original teaching exercise

One counter. Two tokens.
A decision you can explain out loud.

A player demonstrates one simple move with a wooden pawn
Pull out the teaching mat

Before moving anything

Reach the end
in three turns.

  1. Start on space 0 with two tokens.
  2. On each turn, walk one space for free or spend one token to hop two spaces.
  3. After a move, pass the turn marker before making the next move.
  4. Reach space 4 by the end of turn 3. A move that would go beyond 4 finishes on 4.
  5. When the exercise ends, reset to try a different explanation or route.

This is a solo browser demonstration, with no wager, prize, account or saved score. Use it to practise showing an aim, a choice and a result.

Choose your first move

The finish is four spaces away.

You have two tokens and three turns. What does each choice change?

Counter on space 0. Two tokens available.

One player explains a game tile to another across the table

Use your own voice

Show the consequence.
Then hand it over.

Before a move
“We want to reach space four. A walk is one space; a hop is two and costs a token.”
After a move
“The counter changed position. Did the number of tokens change too?”
Before continuing
“What could we do next? Would you like to try the choice?”

Take the method
to your own game.

Use the actual rulebook for that game’s setup and rules. Choose a small legal example, describe what changed and invite the next person to try. Keep optional advice separate from the rules.
